Sleeping Inside a Car is Dangerous!

HOWTOMOTIF  - Feel sleepy while driving a car is dangerous for sure. If it’s not possible to ask your friend for replacing you driving, and your eyes are too tired for looking at the road and need a sleep, people may say that you need to take a rest or probably sleep for awhile in the car.

Taking a rest or sleeping in a car may be a good choice especially when you’re encountering a traffic jam. However, you should know the facts. There are some points that you need to pay attention when you feel like to sleep in the car. You probably have heard about some terrible cases tell about several drivers that died in their own car while sleeping. What may be the causes? The cause of death usually is the exhaust gas that comes through the cabin. Generally, this condition happens because of the engine that hasn’t been turned off, since probably the drivers want to keep the air conditioner on. In fact, the engine that still on may danger us. As we know that the exhaust gas contains carbon monoxide (CO). This pollutant doesn’t have smell, can’t be seen, but if this gas comes inside our nose and go inside our body, we may be supple and feel dead asleep. More horrible, if we smell this pollutant too much, it may cause us death.

Therefore, it is suggested if you want to sleep inside a car because of exhaustion, don’t forget to turn off the engine. To anticipate bad atmosphere since the AC is off, lower a little for your windshield near your position where you want to sleep. This will help you getting fresh air coming through the opened windsheld. Although, don’t lower the windshield too wide to avoid people outside doing bad things to you while you are sleeping. Don’t forget to keep your car door locked. In addition, find a safety parking area. The place should be far from criminality threats. Find a location that is not too quiet. At least, a location that makes any criminals think twice if they want to steal or do bad things to you or your car. Not only that, don’t forget to activate handbrake while parking. Dangers of Modification Wheel Rims

HOWTOMOTIF - In modification world, wheel rim is one of vehicle part that becomes main attention. Modif wheel rims may give good impression to our car since it gives “strong” feet to the car to move, it is cool and of course add aesthetics value to the car. 

Modifying wheel rims on car is a possible thing. However, you should not forget about safety. Don’t only make your car looks cool, but pay attention also to the safety. Most people change their default rims diameter to be more wide. However, they never pay attention to what may be the bad effects of their own decision.

According to Toyota in its official site on Monday, 14th of December 2015, extending standard rims is not recommended. It will risk on driving balance. It is also mentioned that extending wheel rims with the size it’s not supposed to be may cause bad on car steering. Moreover if you bring your car more far, it won’t be good. If it’s difficult to turn left or right, of course bad risks will come to you. Besides, wheel attentuation will be decreased. That’s because the tyre size will be more small from the manufacture default release. Of course it’s not fit with the wavy road conditions with many holes.

Good and Bad of Using LED on Motorcycles and Cars

HOWTOMOTIF - Nowadays, either two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicle mostly uses LED (Light Emiting Dioda) lights. In fact, there are some positives and negatives if you apply your vehicle LED. 

As mentioned by Endro Sutarno, a Technical Service Division Instructor of Astra Honda Motor (AHM) Indonesia, “LED lights don’t need high amount of electricity unlike bulb. This way will lower the usage of electricity so it will make the engine performance and fuel efficiency far better.” This surely can be happen since LED lights need fewer power electricity compared to bulb in result the crankshaft won’t take much load and making the crankshaft rotation lighter, more comfortable and of course more economical for the fuel.

Endro gave example of LED lights on All New Honda CBR150R. Before this motorcycle used two front bulb lights, this bike now uses four LED for low lights and six LED for high lights. You need 35 watts/bulb so it will cost 70 watts for two bulbs. Besides, if you use LED lights, you will only need 14,4 watts for six high lights and of course the electricity power will be more less than the bulb lamp.

 The other goodness of this LED lights is the treatment is pretty easy. LED lights is more long-lasting than bulb lamp. Moreover, Endro said that if you really take a good care on them and you are bored with the motorcycle, the LED lights won’t certainly off if the flowing eletricity is not stable and hasn’t been broken yet.

However, there are some badness of using this LED lights. For example as Endro has said, “If one LED light is broken, then you must replace the other LED lights too.” Besides, you or the mechanic should not be careless in repairing the eletricities especially if you have added electric switch which can toggle the motorcycle lights.

Nowadays, the price of LED lights is very amazing compared to bulb lamps. However, Endro said that using LED lights will be more exprensive in the beginning, but economize electricity usage since the use of LED lights will maximize the fuel efficiency. (hrzg)

The Real Roadway Possesor in Indonesia

Biker may be a figure that is considered to be cool on the road. Why? The figure of the biker community is always ready to travel far riding motorcycle, bringing equipments, and those make him look impressive.

Unfortunately, not all bikers realize that becoming a motor rider is not as simple as riding it when we watch especially for motor riders in Indonesia. Indonesian bikers are very different to the other bikers from all of the world such as Europe and America especially in legal riding permission case.

In Europe and America, to get such license is not an easy thing. Pretty much different in Indonesia. In Indonesia, to obtain riding license is quite easy and because of this ease, there are many people who haven’t created any license for riding permission because of this ease, what a weird isn’t it? 

In Indonesia, there are so-called “kings” of  the road who make others should be careful if seeing one of them. Who are they? Here they are:
1.    Mom or lady bikers.
2.    Motorcycle gangs
3.    Group of motorbikers

If you visit Indonesia and meet one of those people, you’d better to give way to them first. You can imagine if you drive your vehicle in Indonesia and see this group of mom bikers who is in touring and you decide not to give them way, you may know what will happen afterward, something bad will happen, haha, just kidding.   

Next, there are some reasons why Indonesian females are “dangerous” riders. Lady bikers in Indonesia oftenly lacks of understanding in riding rules. Even though we realize male bikers also do the same in some cases such as riding without wearing helmet and so on.

These Factors Affect Spark Plug

HOWTOMOTIF - Spark plug is a small component but play a big role in every combustional engine. Without spark plug, a machine can’t be turn. The use of the spark plug is quite simple. It is to ignite the mixture of fuel and air which enters to the combustional chamber, deliver heat to get out of the combustion and close the hole in cylinder head so the combustional gas won’t bleed.

According to Heri Margiraharjo, Technical Engineer Salesman of PT. NGK Busi Indonesia, if the machine is on strike, don’t turn the spark plug on for the use of spark plug is only freed the fire spark and move the heat out of the combustional chamber. Beside that, spark plug also plays role as ventilation and indicates machine’s conditions just like thermometer that doctors use. Mechanic just can diagnose the indications and conditions using this.
 
Sometimes spark plug often used as scapegoat and be thrown away before the lifespan ended. However, spark plug can be used in two-wheeled vehicle for about 5.000 km and for four-wheeled vehicle for the average of 10.000 – 15.000 km.

In other part, at least there are several things you should know related to spark plug such as spark plug’s temperature in a vehicle. There are some factors that affect the temperature of the spark plug:

Air/fuel Comparison
The most ideal ignition temperature in comparison of air and fuel is 14.7 : 1. This thing will also result in machine power maximally. The temperature will decrease if the air or fuel is changed to skinnier or fatter.

Compression Comparison
Increasing the compression comparison may risk on increasing temperature and combustional gas pressure. In return, the ignition temperature will surely go up and the opposite.

Setting the Ignition TimingAdvancing the ignition timing may lead to elevation of ignition temperature, since the combustion gas compression time is extending. In additon, tolerance of ignition temperature will rise by time since the pressure and fuel temperature are lower prior to combustion.

Fuel
At normal speed and load, the ignition temperature and combustion chamber will be a little higher with LPG fuel than gasoline. This is due to LPG doesn’t require heat to evaporate, so the cooling process will be slower.
 
Machine’s speed and loads
Ignition temperature will shoot up as the speed and load rising.
 
Tightening the spark plug
Less tighten of the spark plug or leaving the socket behind while mounting the spark plug may result in spark plug temperature rising quickly. That thing is caused by the distribution of the heat from the engine is not efficient. If the water-cooling system is jammed, the temperature of the engine and spark plugs will rise faster. (hrzg)

These several yoga moves may help you in getting rid of tired and distress while driving or riding for long time:

1. Breath deeply and regularly
Having regular breath can help you in relaxing your mind and body so you won’t easily get stress while driving and even if you have a traffic jam. Take a long deep breath slowly through your nose and take the air out of your mouth.

2. Soften you neck
Neck is one of our body parts which easily gets tired, strained, stiff, or feels heavy. By slowly, move your head around and circling right to left and the opposite. Do that thing repeatedly if you feel stiff or tired on your neck.

3. Make enjoy position for your back
Take a deep breath slowly and pull your body forward and backward sufficiently. Then, turn around your body left to the right and the opposite. Make sure the position of your back is not too bending down or too stacked. This is an effective way to remove tiredness from your body.

4. Stretch your muscles
While riding, make sure both of your hands and legs become ones of the body part that move more often than the others. Those body parts’ reflects usually make us stiff. Don’t forget to stop aside and take a break. You may do some muscle stretching of your hands and legs if you want. Can We Repair Evaporator Leak?

HOWTOMOTIF  - As the time goes by, the blowing air of Air Conditioner (AC) will slowly taper off and it’s not a rare ocassion if the air conditioner will not give any cool air anymore someday. This problem is caused by many things, one of them is because of evaporator leakage.

Evaporator itself is used for receiving cool air from freon which is already transformed as gas. Before that, freon got hot air inside the evaporator and changed it to cool air.

There are some reasons why evaporator can leak:

1.      Lacks of maintenance. It may cause corrosion;
2.      Freon pressure is too much;
3.      Freon system is stuck;
4.      Not using cabin filter;
5.      And last is the Lifespan.

To understand whether the evaporator leaks or not you can give air pressure. You have to open the casing and the component first but you should do it in a garage or repairment which is more experienced. Unpacked evaporator will have to be remained in a water and then give air pressure to it. If there are such bubbles, the component is surely has leakage.

If the reason has already been known and it’s because of leakage, you can do alternative way by welding it, but it is not effective.

Basically, if the evaporator is leaked, you can say that there is corrosion in your component. If you decide to weld it, oftenly it won’t last long which means if you weld on A point, then it will just spread to the B and C point, and so on.

Cost wasting will also give complication then. That’s because if it leaks again, the consumen will have to fill the thrown freon. Therefore, we would advise to change the evaporator with the new one as soon as possible.

Changing evaporator with the new one will cost much. However, it would be better compared to the old one which possibly leaks again anytime. You can say that the fee you spend will be more economical.(hrzg)
